With the development of the economy, the perfection of law systems and elevation of the consciousness for personal health and protection of the Chinese people, particularly with China¡¯s joining WTO, safe production and personal protection equipment (PPE) is becoming increasingly important. Flame resistant or fire proof protective garments are being widely used. More and more designs, making, materials appear in the market. The performance of the clothing improves and sophisticates constantly. Flame resistant clothing, as an in-depth means of prevention of fire dangers, is no longer a mere word spoken or theory in the books, no longer a luxury for working people. They are being extensively adopted by industries of various natures and soon will become a necessity in labor protection.

Chapter Six Labour safety and health
Clause 52: The Employer shall set up and perfect the system of labour safety and health, strictly comply with the national labour safety and health procedures and standards, provide labour safety and health education for the employee(s), prevent labour accidents and minimize vocational risks.
Clause 53: Labour safety and health facilities shall comply with national labour safety and health standards. Clause 54. The Employer shall provide the employee(s) with the labour safety and health facilities and necessary labour protection gear in compliance with the national standards. Health checkups should be regularly conducted for the operatives in hazardous work posts.¡¡¡¡

Clause 37: The Employer shall provide the employee(s) with the labour protection equipment in compliance with the national or industrial standards, and provide them with training on how to wear and use them properly¡£
China¡¯s Ministry of Economy and Trades set PPE Standards in year 2000 according to the labour law and the law of safety production. The standard outlines six major types of work posts and 258 similar work posts to be equipped with flame retardant clothing. The list does not cover industries like fire fighting, oil and gas exploration and production, petrochemical industry, nuclear power, aeronautic and space industry and motor vehicle racing.
